The Heritage Tour for education groups offers students a guided introduction to the site and its stories. Students will also be given the opportunity to develop a sense of empathy for the convict women who spent time here, as they consider the question of whether their punishments were fitting to their crimes.
Suitable for upper primary and secondary school groups (45 minutes)
Her Story offers students a dramatic interpretation of life in the Female Factory, and a unique live theatre experience.
Part history lesson, part roaming theatre show, Her Story is an accurate and emotional depiction of the harsh life within the Cascades Female Factory in 1833. Her Story brings the atmosphere and characters of the Female Factory to life and helps students to gain an in-depth understanding of the significance of this place.
Her Story is performed by two actors, one portraying the woman whose story is being told, and the other male actor playing the parts of an overseer and a doctor.
