There are new daily opening hours and added tour times available at the Cascades Female Factory, so come and discover the stories of female convicts and their children on a guided heritage tour or dramatic interpretation.
The Cascades Female Factory is Australia’s most significant site associated with female convicts, where thousands of women and children were imprisoned, and which many never left.There are a range of fascinating activities that will help bring this place’s history to life.
The Cascades Female Factory is open seven days per week 9.30am-4pm daily (Closed Christmas Day)
‘Her Story’ is dramatic interpretation of life at the Cascades Female Factory brought to life by the team that gives us the popular Louisa’s Walk through South Hobart. Her Story is performed at 11 am daily (duration approximately 45 minutes). There will be no performances on Christmas Day and Boxing Day (December 25 and 26), but from December 27 2012 – April 30 2013 there will be 2 tours daily at 11.00am and 1.30pm.
The cost is very reasonable at just $20 adults, $12.50 children and $60 families.
Heritage Tour – Our guides offer a comprehensive guided tour of the site – duration approximately 45 minutes. Available daily at 10.00am, 12 noon, 1.00pm and 3.00pm. Cost is $15 adults, $10 concession, students and children and $40 for families.
Tea with Matron is not available until further notice due to conservation works being carried out on the Matrons Cottage.
