New guidebook to Tasmania’s World Heritage Convict Sites

A new pocket-sized guidebook to Tasmania’s World Heritage-listed Convict Sites is now available.

The 12 page booklet has been produced by Tourism Tasmania in partnership with Heritage Tasmania and the five Tasmanian sites of the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage property.

Aimed squarely at the tourism market, the booklet will help inspire visitors to plan and experience a roadtrip that takes in all five sites as well as other attractions and experiences along the way.

It contains a brief overview of the history and present-day experiences available at each site, including Brickendon and Woolmers Estates, the Cascades Female Factory, Coal Mines and Port Arthur Historic Sites and Darlington Probation Station on Maria Island.

It suggests five day touring itinerary, which could be undertaken as all or part of a Tasmanian driving holiday.

The brochure is available from the properties themselves, as well as from major Tasmanian Visitor Information Centres and other tourism information outlets.
