New photo shoot for Port Arthur Sites

Perfect weather and soft, warm autumn light contributed to the success of a recent photo shoot at the Port Arthur Historic Sites.

We commissioned Hobart photographer Jonathan Wherrett to produce a new set of promotional photographs featuring the Port Arthur, Coal Mines and Cascade Female Factory Historic Sites. The brief specified that we wanted the shots to be taken on a sunny day. Given the at best mixed weather in Tassie this year, we were a bit nervous of actually getting a sunny day to do the shoot at all.

However, the appointed day dawned calm and bright in early May. The lateness of the season meant that the angle of the sunlight was low, with a light haze providing a delightful, warm softness that lasted all day. The resulting photographs all have that special ‘magic hour’ glow to them, which we think will make them ideal for promoting the Sites.

The photographs will begin to be rolled out in our various promotions soon.
