Hear from historian Alison Alexander as she takes us back to 1975, a year declared by the United Nation’s as the International Women’s Year that inspired a group of women to campaign for recognition and protection of this site.

About the speaker

Alison Alexander has made a career of writing about Tasmanian history, particularly women’s activities. She was on the board of the Female Factory Historic Site from the 1990s until 2010 and is now an active member of the Female Convicts Research Centre and the Convict Women’s Press.
